The Multiagency Network for Students with Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities, also known as SEDNET, is a system of partnerships between individuals and organizations with mutual responsibilities for students and their families with emotional disabilities.

SEDNET serves as a catalyst, bringing together state and local leadership and experience in responding to the needs of students with emotional disabilities and their families.  Regional Advisory Boards are staffed by professionals and family members well-versed in local resources, program eligibility, and avenues of support.

Since its inception in 1984, the Multiagency Network for Students with Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities (SEDNET) has been devoted to facilitating the creation of a comprehensive “system of care” for high-risk students and students with emotional disabilities and their families.  Initially, the focus of SEDNET was to assist in bringing students from out-of-state residential placements back to Florida.  Having accomplished that, SEDNET evolved into assisting in the transitioning of residentially placed students back into the home and community.  Now, SEDNET is focused on enhancing the system of care for families and children in their natural environments whenever possible.  In order to accomplish such, SEDNET takes a systematic approach, addressing the system of care through the following initiatives:

  • Direct Services
  • Grants and Funding
  • Interagency Collaboration and Linkages
  • Policies and Agreements
  • Staff Development

Projects serve school districts with regions organized by the Departments of Children and Families and Juvenile Justice

SEDNET participants represent children, youth, and families, caregivers, and those who provide health, education, and human services throughout the State of Florida.

For information on how you can contribute to the network, or solicit assistance, contact the project manager serving your school district or county in which you reside.
